Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has underscored the need for sustainable development in Himachal Pradesh, urging residents to help preserve its natural resources. Speaking during a book launch, Sukhu emphasized Shimla's transformation and the necessity for vertical construction due to space constraints.
Sukhu detailed various initiatives to modernize the city, including a Rs 145 crore project to install an underground duct system. Plans for a Rs 600 crore complex in Sabzi Mandi and a comprehensive Rs 800 crore water supply scheme are underway. Efforts to maintain environmental balance and beautify the city are also being prioritized.
The state government is also planning new townships and investigating cloudburst patterns to understand climate impacts better. Sukhu noted these phenomena are increasingly occurring in lowland regions, suggesting a broader geographical impact.
