In a show of national solidarity, the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, has publicly thrown his support behind the government's approach to combating terrorism and extremism, with a particular focus on sensitive regions like Kashmir.
Addressing the Prime Minister in a formal letter, Sheikh Abubakr applauded the administration's 'principled stance' and commended the armed forces for their role in preserving national security. He characterized terrorism as a serious threat to both national stability and global peace, stating that India's proactive strategies are critical for both internal cohesion and international stability.
The Grand Mufti further emphasized India's potential transformative influence in countering radical ideologies and fostering sustainable peace in South Asia, urging citizens of all faiths to unite behind these national efforts. Sheikh Abubakr, the 10th Grand Mufti and first Shafi scholar from South India, serves as General Secretary of the All India Muslim Scholars Association and is a founder of Jamia Markaz Saqafathu Sunniyya.
