Authorities launched a search on Wednesday following the disappearance of two crew members after a Japanese air force training plane crashed just minutes after departure.
The T-4 training aircraft belonging to the Japan Air Self-Defence Force lost radar contact two minutes following takeoff from Komaki Air Base in Aichi, citing Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi.
Parts of the plane have since been discovered near the Iruka reservoir, approximately 10 kilometers from the base, while the cause remains under investigation, according to Defense Minister Gen Nakatani. This crash follows a disturbing trend of defense aircraft incidents in recent years.
