In a significant electoral exercise, a voter turnout exceeding 54% was noted in Visavadar and Kadi assembly constituencies in Gujarat during the bypolls, according to officials. The polling concluded peacefully, adhering to schedule from 7 am to 6 pm.
As per data from the Election Commission, the Visavadar seat in Junagadh district witnessed a turnout of 54.61%, while Kadi in Mehsana district recorded 54.49% by 5 pm. Key candidates cast their votes early, amid a peaceful atmosphere across 294 polling stations each constituency.
The bypolls are crucial for the BJP, which aims to recapture Visavadar since its loss in 2007. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 23, with the BJP, Congress, and AAP all fielding strong candidates vying for victory.
