India and France have kicked off their eighth biennial joint military exercise, 'Exercise Shakti,' at Camp Larzac in La Cavalerie, France. Both armies, represented by 90 personnel each, are focusing on interoperability and joint operations in a sub-conventional environment over the course of this bilateral training engagement.
The Indian contingent primarily comprises a battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, accompanied by personnel from various other arms and services, while the French side is represented by the 13th Foreign Legion Half-Brigade. This exercise, conducted under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, aims to enhance operational coordination through training in semi-urban terrain.
Dignitaries from both nations, including India's military attaché in France and key commanders from both sides, have emphasized the significance of this exercise in fostering deeper cooperation and mutual respect. The joint tactical drills and shared insights highlight the strengthened defence partnership between India and France, contributing to global peace and security.
