The Congress party in Kerala has refuted claims that senior MP Shashi Tharoor was sidelined from the Nilambur by-election campaign. Despite Tharoor's notable absence, the party emphasized that his name was included among the star campaigners.
Tharoor, representing Thiruvananthapuram, expressed surprise at not being invited to the campaign, contrasting with previous by-election engagements. His comments stirred discussions as he conveyed his hope for a UDF victory, while maintaining a stance of going only where he was invited.
KPCC president Sunny Joseph clarified that Tharoor was abroad on official commitments during the campaign. He asserted that Tharoor's absence did not imply negligence from the party's side, highlighting the significance of the bypoll as both LDF and UDF prepared for the upcoming state elections.
