In a strong accusation, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) MP Samirul Islam highlighted the plight of Bengali-speaking migrant workers in states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claims these workers are wrongly branded as Bangladeshis despite having valid identification, leading to alleged persecution.
Islam criticized the legal handling of these migrants, emphasizing that detentions occur without adherence to legal protocols. He attributed responsibility to the BJP's central leadership, questioning their motives and accusing them of targeting Bengal for political reasons.
The issue has caught the attention of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who cited instances of migrant workers erroneously confined despite possessing proper documentation. The AITC, alongside other opposition parties, aims to challenge these alleged injustices.
