In a significant political development, Rajiv Bindal was re-elected unopposed as the Himachal Pradesh BJP chief for a third term. This decision highlights his undiminished influence within the party ranks. The announcement came from Union minister Jitendra Singh, who declared Bindal the sole nominee for the coveted position.
Bindal's extensive experience in politics, including serving as an MLA five times and holding the post of health minister from 2007 to 2012 in the Prem Kumar Dhumal-led government, cements his position as a crucial player in Himachal's political arena. His leadership was further recognized when he was appointed speaker of the 13th Vidhan Sabha in 2018.
Alongside Bindal's re-election, nominations for eight National Council members were completed. Several prominent figures, including former minister Govind Thakur and other party leaders, were elected as National Council members, emphasizing the party's strategic moves ahead of upcoming political challenges.
