The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially appointed Anil Tiwari as the new president of its Andaman and Nicobar Islands unit. Tiwari succeeds Ajay Bairagi following the party's internal election process.
Remarkably, Tiwari was elected unopposed, as no other nominations were received by the deadline, set for June 30. A senior BJP leader noted that Tiwari's uncontested election is a testament to his influence and leadership within the party.
Tiwari, who joined the BJP in 1990 and has a background with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), aims to address local issues and advocate for the reinstatement of the Pradesh Council to improve governance in the Islands. Former BJP state president Ajay Bairagi expressed optimism about Tiwari's leadership.
