Sanjeev Arora, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has resigned from his Rajya Sabha seat after winning the assembly by-election for the Ludhiana West constituency in Punjab.
Arora submitted his resignation to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, who has accepted it, ending his tenure that was supposed to last until April 2028.
Arora's by-election victory, achieved with a margin of over 10,000 votes against Congress rival Bharat Bhushan Ashu, allows AAP to designate a new representative in the Rajya Sabha. Despite speculation, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has denied any interest in the vacancy.
