EU Urges China to End Rare Earth Export Restrictions Amidst Security Concerns

The European Union's chief diplomat has called on China to end restrictions on rare earth exports, as tensions rise over Chinese support for Russia's military activities in Ukraine. Kaja Kallas emphasized the economic risks posed by China's export practices, warning that they threaten European supply chain reliability.
In a diplomatic meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Brussels, Kallas urged concrete solutions to rebalance EU-China trade relations. She highlighted the threat of Chinese company support to Russia's military, advocating for an immediate cessation of such activities.
Preparations for discussions at an upcoming EU-China summit were debated, with both parties agreeing on the significance of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The meeting also addressed China's potential role in calming the Middle East nuclear tensions.
