The CPI(M) has dismissed Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee's proposal for a new language movement as a 'gimmick.' According to CPI(M), genuine support for the Bengali language requires its integration into education and the workplace.

Addressing a press conference, CPI(M) West Bengal secretary Mohammed Salim criticized Banerjee's rally as an 'annual picnic' that disregarded traffic rules imposed by the Calcutta High Court. He also accused the TMC of manipulating social media to attack the CPI(M).

The CPI(M) leader further alleged corrupt practices by TMC during elections and challenged Banerjee's claims about voting rights under the Left Front rule. He also accused the Election Commission of disenfranchising voters in Bihar through the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
