On Monday, Punjab Congress launched a strong protest against the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) controversial land-pooling policy, denouncing it as a 'land looting' scheme. The demonstration, spearheaded by Punjab Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, took place outside the Greater Mohali Development Area (GMADA) office.
During the protest, Warring criticized the AAP government, alleging it was a tactic to strip farmers of their valuable land under the guise of development. He warned that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should learn from past protests against farm laws and emphasized the Congress's solidarity with farmers resisting the policy.
The Punjab Congress submitted a memorandum to GMADA, demanding the immediate retraction of the policy, citing potential environmental and economic devastation. Opposition leader Partap Singh Bajwa echoed sentiments against what they called an 'anti-farmer agenda,' claiming the policy threatens the future of Punjab's rural society by jeopardizing farmland and livelihoods.
