Moldova's Political Crossroads: Pro-Russian Bloc Forms Ahead of Key Election
Four pro-Russian parties in Moldova are forming a bloc to contest the parliamentary election on September 28. This coalition includes former President Igor Dodon's Party of Socialists and aims to oust the current pro-EU government. President Maia Sandu's party faces challenges ahead of the crucial vote.

In a significant political development, four pro-Russian parties in Moldova have decided to join forces to create a bloc aimed at securing parliamentary victory in the upcoming election scheduled for September 28. This move is seen as a challenge to the ruling government, which is focused on achieving European Union membership by 2030.
The newly formed bloc comprises the Party of Socialists, headed by the former president Igor Dodon, along with the Heart of Moldova, Future of Moldova, and the Communist Party. Dodon, while announcing the union, emphasized the need to re-establish relations with Russia and resisted foreign interests and NATO's influence.
President Maia Sandu, who narrowly won re-election, faces opposition as her party, the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), competes in the upcoming elections. Meanwhile, Moldovan officials refused to register the pro-Russian Victory bloc for the elections due to legal issues, heightening political tension in the region.
