Amid rising political tensions, Congress MP Imran Masood has voiced serious concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, challenging its expedited completion. Masood questioned the underlying methods, suggesting a potential disenfranchisement of tribals, Dalits, backward classes, and Muslims through swift voter roll revisions.

He further alleged that certain factions aim to erode democratic foundations, advocating for a governance model where a minority dominates the majority. Masood's statements intensify existing debates about the SIR process, as more accusations of voter list tampering surface from the opposition.

Criticism has also emerged within the ruling alliance. JDU MP Giridhari Yadav criticized the Election Commission's approach, citing logistical challenges in acquiring necessary documentation under strict deadlines. The ongoing controversy has led to legislative disruptions, with Parliament sessions repeatedly adjourned due to opposition demands for discussions on the SIR's democratic implications.
