Communist Party of India (CPI) Member of Parliament P Sandosh Kumar on Wednesday took a significant step by submitting an Adjournment motion in the Rajya Sabha. He called for an in-depth discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, highlighting its potential impact on democratic principles.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan responded by asserting that the government is ready to address any concerns regarding the voter list revision. He urged the Opposition to facilitate a smooth parliamentary session and engage in productive debates. Paswan emphasized that the government is open to answering questions about the SIR process.
The SIR initiative has sparked a heated political debate, with accusations from both sides. Union Minister Giriraj Singh criticized the Opposition for politicizing a constitutional process and questioned their motives. Despite repeated parliamentary disruptions, the controversy continues, with plans to address the issue when the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha reconvene.
