Kirron Kher, a former BJP Member of Parliament, has been issued a notice demanding Rs 12.76 lakh in dues for a government-allocated residence. The notice cites unpaid licence fees and penalty charges for the property located in Sector 7, Chandigarh.
The Assistant Controller (Finance and Controller) Rents office released the notice during Kher's tenure as Chandigarh's MP. Serving two terms from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat, Kher won elections in 2014 and 2019. The notice warned that non-payment would result in an annual 12 percent interest charge.
The notice details the fees: Rs 5,725 as the outstanding licence fee and a 100 percent penalty of Rs 3.64 lakh for unauthorised occupation from October 2024 to January 2025, with a 200 percent penalty totalling Rs 8.20 lakh imposed from January to April 2025.
