India's Parliament session on Wednesday was marked by tumultuous scenes as both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha faced repeated adjournments. Opposition members protested vocally against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, demanding a discussion on the controversial exercise.
The Rajya Sabha proceedings were halted almost immediately after opposition MPs created a ruckus, insisting on a debate about the electoral process. Concurrently, the Lok Sabha managed to conduct brief proceedings amidst ongoing uproar, during which Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya introduced the 'National Sports Governance Bill, 2025' to the house.
Speaker Om Birla expressed dissatisfaction over disruptions, emphasizing the need for decorum in the house. Meanwhile, opposition leaders pressed for wider discussions on significant national matters, including allegations against the government of disenfranchising certain communities through the SIR exercise.
