The Rajya Sabha faced repeated disruptions on Wednesday as Opposition MPs clamored for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Proceedings ground to a halt post-lunch, leading to early adjournment for the day.
The Upper House first adjourned at 11 AM and again at noon after Opposition protests over the voter list revision. When the House reconvened at 2 PM, continued protests led to its final adjournment for the day.
Despite attempts by Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to introduce The Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill 2025, Opposition members persisted in their demands for an SIR discussion, with calls for Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge to address the issue.
