Priyanka Gandhi, a Congress leader, demanded on Friday that the Election Commission of India respond to serious allegations of voter list manipulation. She insisted on the need for transparency and requested the commission to provide political parties with the revised voters' list.
Her appeal came shortly after her brother, Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, alleged malpractice in polling procedures. He claimed to possess '100 percent proof' of fraudulent activities during the voter list revision process in a constituency in Karnataka. Furthermore, he warned the ECI against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar.
Rahul Gandhi accused the ECI of dishonesty, pointing out irregularities such as the inclusion of new voters aged 50 and above, and the exclusion of eligible young voters. The commission advised awaiting the High Court's ruling on the contested issue, while protest from opposition parties persisted, decrying potential disenfranchisement of marginalized voters.
