The Election Commission has concluded the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision of Bihar's electoral roll, identifying significant discrepancies. With the state election approaching, nearly 35 lakh electors have either migrated or remain untraceable amid an electorate of approximately 7.90 crore.
Furthermore, booth-level officers and political parties have flagged about 22 lakh deceased electors. An additional seven lakh entries have been found registered at multiple locations. Meanwhile, 1.2 lakh enumeration forms are still pending receipt.
To date, 99.8% of Bihar's electorate forms have been digitized. The complete list, including deceased individuals and those who have moved permanently, was shared among political parties to address potential errors. The draft roll will publish on August 1, with claims and corrections permitted until September 1.
