In a plea to political leaders, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has emphasized the importance of sending representatives who can make decisions to meetings determining the parliamentary agenda. His comments come amidst opposition demands for a debate on Bihar's electoral roll revision, overshadowing the scheduled discussion on Operation Sindoor.
The situation escalated as opposition members rallied in the Well of the House, insisting on assurances from the government before engaging in the debate on Operation Sindoor, a response to the Pahalgam terror attack. At an all-party meeting, Birla noted, leaders sought a dedicated discussion, resulting in a 16-hour allotment.
Addressing opposition figures, including SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Birla insisted representatives attending meetings must be decision-makers. He stressed the need for a measured approach following procedural rules, ensuring the effective operation of the House.
