A political showdown unfolded in the Lok Sabha on Monday as the government accused the Opposition of betraying an agreement by blocking a scheduled debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. This accusation led to a fiery retort from the Congress, escalating the tensions within the House.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed the press that the Opposition abruptly demanded the government guarantee a debate on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar after the Operation Sindoor discussion. This demand was made just minutes before the planned discussion, catching the government off guard.
In response, Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi hit back, accusing the government of sidestepping its responsibility. He claimed that the real issue was the government's reluctance to disclose the truth behind Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam incident, a point of contention that continues to deepen the divide between the two parties.
