Youth Congress Protests Against Alleged Voter List Manipulation in Bihar

The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) led a protest in New Delhi on Monday against the Election Commission's (EC) special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar. The IYC alleged that the EC was acting under the influence of the BJP-led central government.

Heading the protest, IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib criticized the EC, claiming it had become a tool for the ruling party. The protest began at the Youth Congress office, but was halted by Delhi Police at Raisina Road, preventing marchers from reaching the EC headquarters. Chib condemned what he called undemocratic practices by the Modi administration and pledged continued resistance.

The IYC accused the SIR of being a strategic effort to skew Bihar's upcoming elections, manipulating voter data in the BJP's favor. The protest echoed broader concerns of disenfranchisement among underrepresented groups, and Chib tied these issues to prior allegations of electoral unfairness in Maharashtra by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
