BJP's Suvendu Adhikari Calls for Electoral Purification Ahead of 2026 Elections

BJP's senior leader Suvendu Adhikari has called for a Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal, aiming to expunge names of alleged Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators. This effort is seen as a means to cleanse the voter list before the 2026 Assembly elections.

Participating in the BJP's 'Nari Suraksha Yatra' in North 24 Parganas, Adhikari criticized the current administration under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging negligence in protecting women from attacks and abuses. He also expressed the party's support for the 'Nabanna Abhijan', set for August 9, in memory of a medic's rape-murder from a year ago.

Adhikari accused Banerjee's government of distributing fake documents to 17 lakh infiltrators for electoral gains. He alleged that Banerjee had misled the public by giving a communal interpretation to efforts identifying infiltrators across different states. With an eye on next year's polls, he criticized her handling of protests by jobless teachers and state government employees.
