In recent developments regarding the April 22 Pahalgam attack, where 26 lives were tragically lost, a terrorist reportedly involved in the incident has been shot in the ongoing 'Operation Mahadev', though this has yet to be confirmed. Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, stated that if verified, this would be a positive step in the region's ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone) Vidhi Kumar Birdi reported that three terrorists have seemingly been neutralized near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar, with identification still underway. The operation continues to progress, with authorities meticulously working to confirm all eliminations during the encounter.
On the political front, Chief Minister Abdullah stressed the need for parliamentary discussions regarding the alleged intelligence and security failures linked to the Pahalgam attack. He also expressed hope for progress on the statehood issue during the current monsoon session of Parliament, though he is cautiously withholding any strike action for the time being.
