The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has formally sought intervention from the National Commission for Women (NCW) following allegations that BJP MLA Santosh Khatua made derogatory comments about Lekhasri Samantsinghar, a senior BJD general secretary. The party is pressing for urgent corrective measures.

In a detailed memorandum handed to NCW's Delina Khongdup, the BJD accused Khatua of launching a shocking verbal tirade against Samantsinghar at a press meeting. This incident occurred shortly after she conducted a press conference in Bhubaneswar implicating Khatua in poaching and smuggling activities.

The BJD alleges that Khatua used the occasion to deflect charges by launching a personal attack, branding Samantsinghar with unspeakable titles. Despite the controversy, the police have reportedly taken no significant steps, leading BJD to call for NCW's immediate engagement in ensuring justice.
