In a scathing critique, former minister and YSRCP East Godavari district president, Chelluboina Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna, condemned the Andhra Pradesh coalition government for its handling of welfare hostels. Speaking to reporters at the Rajamahendravaram Press Club, he accused the administration, led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, of jeopardizing students' lives by neglecting hostel conditions.

Krishna alleged that the hostels are serving substandard food and that quality menu schemes have been abolished, leading to severe health issues among students. He blamed Education Minister Nara Lokesh for the declining standards, citing the absence of even basic amenities. The coalition government's failure to maintain reforms initiated under Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's rule is putting the welfare of underprivileged students at risk, he asserted.

Highlighting widespread issues in the hostels, Krishna mentioned that students are forced to sleep on floors without adequate nutrition or sanitation. Despite media coverage and visits by officials, including Home Minister Anitha, no corrective measures have been taken, he said. He also criticized TDP MLA Buchaiah Chowdary for his public antics in pursuit of a ministerial post, urging him instead to focus on pressing issues like illegal sand mining and substance smuggling in his constituency.
