Suvendu Adhikari, a prominent figure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), leveled accusations against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Adhikari claimed that Banerjee shared a fake video depicting an alleged assault on a Bengali-speaking woman and her child. He criticized this action as misleading and insisted that Banerjee be held accountable under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Adhikari further pointed out that despite calls from the Delhi Police for corrective action, Banerjee has yet to retract the contentious post. He emphasized that Banerjee, as West Bengal's administrative head and a seasoned politician, should not have engaged in spreading fabricated content.

The controversy stemmed from a video posted by Banerjee on social media platform 'X', where she claimed police misconduct. However, the Delhi Police's thorough investigation declared the allegations baseless. DCP Abhishek Dhania revealed that their probe found no evidence supporting the accusation, instead suggesting political motivations behind the video's fabrication.
