Home Minister Amit Shah, in a striking critique of the Congress party, attributed the creation of Pakistan and several strategic losses to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's decisions. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Shah incessantly blamed Congress' historical choices for leaving long-lasting impacts, from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to international diplomatic setbacks.
He highlighted missed opportunities such as the 1948 unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir and the failure to reclaim PoK after the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War despite holding significant leverage. Shah underscored Nehru's grant of the Indus waters to Pakistan and failing to secure a UN Security Council seat as further blunders.
In terms of national security, Shah criticized Congress for repealing the Prevention of Terrorism Act, claiming various terrorists fled under Congress's tenure. He called out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to answer for these losses and criticized past Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, for their alleged sympathies and mishandling security issues.
