Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized the government's handling of 'Operation Sindoor' on Tuesday, specifically targeting Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's statements in Parliament. Gandhi alleged that India's announcement to Pakistan following the operation revealed a lack of political will to engage in military conflict.
Addressing the Lower House, Gandhi expressed concern over disclosures made by Singh, suggesting that India's communication to Pakistan - asserting a lack of intent to target military sites and an interest in avoiding conflict escalation - amounted to an admission of unwillingness to fight.
Gandhi further compared the recent operation to the 1971 war, arguing that the political decisiveness present during the latter was missing from the recent strategy. Highlighting statements from military officials, he accused the political leadership of imposing constraints that hampered the air force, resulting in the loss of aircraft, which he did not attribute to any tactical errors by the armed forces.
