In a bold assertion, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has accused the Indian government of lacking the courage to challenge former US President Donald Trump's repeated claims of negotiating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The alleged mediation, cited by Trump, was said to follow India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives.

Kharge, speaking to reporters, expressed his disbelief over the Centre's silence, suggesting a lack of resolve to refute Trump's statements. Echoing his sentiment, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi fiercely criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not outrightly dismissing Trump's remarks, warning that acknowledging the falsehood could unravel deeper truths.

The Indian government, while consistently denying any foreign involvement in the ceasefire decision, remains cornered by persistent claims from Trump. His recent comments praised India's leadership yet insinuated the US role in facilitating peace, a narrative India continues to dispute.
