Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has insisted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi clarify former US President Donald Trump's claims concerning an India-Pakistan ceasefire. Chavan expressed this demand during a press conference, joining Rahul Gandhi's critique of Modi's use of the armed forces for image protection following the Pahalgam attack.
Chavan also questioned Modi's accountability regarding an admitted model code of conduct violation during the December 2020 gram panchayat elections in Maharashtra. Despite acknowledgment by the Election Commission of India, no substantial action was taken against Modi, a move Chavan labels as a 'blatant disregard of the law.'
Amidst these issues, Chavan and other Congress leaders have criticized BJP's handling of state ministers' conduct. With Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal condemning ministers for engaging in disruptive behavior, the call for governmental accountability intensifies against the backdrop of upcoming assembly elections.
