In a significant geopolitical development, Congress Member of Parliament Rajiv Shukla sharply criticized US President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 25% tariff on Indian goods, labeling it a 'wrong step'. Shukla emphasized that this issue would be raised in the ongoing Parliament session, questioning the friendship between India and the US.

Backing this stance, Congress MP Ujjwal Rama Singh lambasted the central government's foreign and economic policies, claiming they are failing. Singh pointed out that despite the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, raising the issue multiple times, the government remains indifferent.

Singh further argued that the US's unilateral trade terms were unacceptable and warned against any compromises on India's sovereignty. President Trump, announcing the tariffs on his Truth Social account, cited India's high tariffs and military purchases from Russia as reasons for the decision.
