In a significant political development, the AIADMK Cadres Rights Retrieval Committee, led by former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, has officially departed from the BJP-led NDA coalition, marking a decisive shift in Tamil Nadu's political landscape.
Panruti S Ramachandran, a seasoned political leader and advisor to the Committee, announced the unanimous decision at a press conference. Highlighting the group's strategic plans, Ramachandran revealed that OPS would embark on statewide tours to assess future political alignments, shaped by the prevailing circumstances.
The departure has fueled speculations about OPS's next move, including a potential collaboration with actor-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam for the 2026 Assembly polls. Despite the BJP's non-committal stance on accommodating OPS, the AIADMK veteran remains firm in contesting the leadership of Edappadi K Palaniswami, while continuing to rule out forming a separate party.
