In a devastating overnight assault, Russian missile and drone strikes targeted Ukraine's capital city, Kyiv, killing at least 13 individuals, including a young boy, and injuring over 130 others, according to Ukrainian authorities on Thursday.
Among the victims were numerous children, with 14 year-olds affected, marking the highest record of child casualties in a single attack since the Russian invasion began three years ago, public records reveal. A nine-story residential building bore the brunt of the assault, causing a section to collapse and trapping victims under the debris.
While Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted many of the 309 Shahed and decoy drones and eight cruise missiles launched, some missiles and drones did strike, causing significant damage across Kyiv, Kramatorsk, and beyond. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy condemned the attacks and emphasized the necessity of international support and stronger responses to Russian aggression.
