Following the incident, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India condemned the arrests, citing reports of physical assault. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh's Deputy Chief Minister questioned possible political pressure on the judiciary, emphasizing that the court should independently decide on granting bail.
