The political arena in Telangana has recently been charged with controversy, as Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader Dasoju Shravan Kumar strongly condemned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's remarks about young journalists. Reddy had remarked on their alleged lack of "common sense" and admitted to feeling a strong urge to physically reprimand them during press interactions. Kumar retorted fiercely, highlighting Reddy's perceived incompetence and questioning his capability to lead the state effectively.
Kumar further escalated the criticism by suggesting that Reddy, whom he deems a byproduct of social media, has not engaged with grassroots issues to a satisfactory extent. He questioned the decision-making process within Congress that allowed Reddy to ascend to the role of PCC president, given his alleged lack of substance as a leader. The BRS has since called for intervention from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to address the potential destabilizing impact Reddy's leadership could have on Telangana.
The comments from Reddy that triggered this backlash occurred during the commemoration of Sundarayya Vigana Kendram's 10th anniversary. Reddy expressed his frustration with the younger generation of journalists, claiming they lack respect for elder journalists and the essential etiquette expected at press conferences. However, he acknowledged refraining from acting on his frustrations, citing his political position and the professional decorum that constrains his actions.
