The Punjab Vigilance Bureau raided the residence of former Akali leader Ranjit Singh Gill, who recently joined the BJP, according to sources. The raid occurred in Chandigarh on Saturday, though official details remain undisclosed.
Gill, formerly a close associate of SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, joined the BJP on Friday in a ceremony with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The move comes after Gill's resignation from the Shiromani Akali Dal, citing the marginalization of loyal party members.
An unsuccessful candidate in the 2017 and 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, Gill expressed renewed confidence in the BJP's leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi post his induction.
