Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal launched a sharp rebuke against the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging their historical alliance with the Muslim League during India's freedom struggle contributed ideologically to the creation of Pakistan.
Sapkal's comments followed a protest by Shiv Sena near Dadar's Tilak Bhavan, demanding Congress leaders apologize for remarks on 'Hindu and Sanatan terrorism.' He condemned the BJP's perceived double standards regarding their lack of action in appealing the 2008 Malegaon blast case acquittal.
In a broader critique, Sapkal defended Congress's stand on Hindu terrorism narratives while accusing BJP of inconsistent stances, emphasizing Maharashtra's reverence for martyr IPS officer Hemant Karkare, who initially led the investigation into the 2008 Malegaon blast case.
