Shibu Soren, the esteemed tribal leader instrumental in Jharkhand's creation, has passed away at 81, leaving an indelible mark on the nation's political landscape. Known as 'Dishom Guru,' Soren co-founded the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and championed tribal rights, making tribal issues a centerpiece in Indian politics.

Born in 1944, Soren's life was shaped by personal tragedy and socio-economic challenges. His father's murder by moneylenders sparked a lifelong commitment to activism. In 1973, alongside AK Roy and Binod Bihari Mahto, he founded the JMM, advocating for a separate tribal state and eventually contributing to Jharkhand's formation in 2000.

Despite legal controversies, including the Chirudih massacre and a high-profile murder trial, Soren's influence remained paramount. He served as Jharkhand's Chief Minister thrice and held key positions in the Union government. His political legacy continues through his son, Hemant Soren, the current Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
