In a heated political dispute, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has expressed solidarity with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over allegations that the Delhi police referred to Bengali as a 'Bangladeshi language.' Stalin criticized the comments, describing them as an affront to the language in which India's National Anthem was composed.
The controversy stirred when Banerjee accused the Delhi Police, which falls under the Union Home Ministry's jurisdiction, of making the inflammatory remark in a communication. Banerjee vowed to respond strongly, framing the statement as an attack on Bengali identity.
Conversely, BJP leader Amit Malviya dismissed the allegations, labeling Banerjee's reaction as 'dangerously inflammatory.' He insisted that no such description was present in the police's letter and suggested that Banerjee should face serious legal consequences for allegedly provoking linguistic tensions.
