In a scathing critique, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president YS Sharmila has accused the TDP-led NDA government of imposing shockingly high power charges on citizens, reneging on its promise of no rate hikes. The burden, she claims, has already reached Rs 17,000 crore, drilling a hole in people's wallets.
Sharmila highlighted that within just 14 months in office, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has levied exorbitant power charge adjustments, betraying the pre-election promise to either not increase or reduce power rates substantially.
She urged Naidu to absorb the Rs 12,000 crore intended for further hikes and demanded a rollback of previous hikes, criticizing the government for 'backstabbing' the citizens with fiscal burdens.
