Jammu and Kashmir Congress Fights Back: Protests Against Article 370 Abrogation

On Tuesday, police thwarted a protest by the Jammu and Kashmir Congress unit against the annulment of Article 370 and the state's bifurcation. The demonstrators, led by JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, sought to hold a sit-in outside their office.
Prevented by police from moving beyond their premises, the group instead protested within the party headquarters. Karra decried the August 5, 2019 actions, asserting that it stripped 1.40 crore J-K residents of their identity.
Karra criticized any potential moves to grant statehood to Jammu while Kashmir remains a UT, citing potential negative global repercussions for India. He stated that the changes have disempowered the people, urging a return to the former state of governance.
