Brazil's Finance Minister Fernando Haddad is ramping up efforts to negotiate trade terms with the United States following steep tariffs that have hindered economic exchange. A call is scheduled for next week with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to discuss mitigating the 50% tariff imposed by former President Donald Trump on Brazilian goods.

Haddad informed reporters that the dialogue is slated for Wednesday and holds the potential to progress to an in-person meeting, should the preliminary discussions prove fruitful.

This diplomatic initiative underscores Brazil's urgent need to ease trade barriers that have impacted its export sectors and strained international relations.
