The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday launched a vehement critique against the Delhi government's school fee regulation bill, denouncing it as "anti-parent and pro-management." The opposition has suggested four key amendments to ensure the protection of parents' rights.
Speaking at a press conference alongside party members Sanjeev Jha and MLA Kuldeep Kumar, Senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi accused the BJP-led government of neglecting parents' interests. She highlighted the bill's delay and its lack of consultation with stakeholders like parents and educational experts.
Atishi stated that the bill, which was finally tabled in the Assembly in August after months of delay, essentially legalizes previous arbitrary fee hikes by private schools. She further criticized the bill for not including a freeze on the current fee levels. Meanwhile, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood defended the bill, calling it a "historic moment" and stating that it benefits Delhi's parents by involving them in fee determination discussions.
