According to a new Gallup poll, after over three years of conflict against Russia, Ukrainians are showing an increased desire for a peaceful resolution. The poll indicates only a quarter of Ukrainians believe that hostilities will end within the next year.
In stark contrast to the sentiments from 2022 when victory was a primary goal, a decreasing trend in war support is apparent across various regions and age demographics in Ukraine. The survey, which excluded territories under entrenched Russian control, highlights a pressing need for negotiations.
Moreover, Ukrainian views towards international leadership have shifted, with approval ratings for the US government dropping sharply since 2024. In contrast, Germany enjoys rising favorability among Ukrainians. Optimism about joining NATO and the EU has also declined, reflecting the war's profound economic and social toll.
