The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka has formally requested Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to submit the names of voters he claims were improperly included or omitted from the state's electoral rolls.
This request follows Gandhi's public accusations of substantial voter fraud, including inflated and duplicate entries in the electoral lists. During a recent press conference, Gandhi alleged 'vote chori' involving over 100,000 votes in a Karnataka constituency.
The officer emphasized the need for Gandhi to sign a declaration under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, detailing the mentioned discrepancies, to initiate necessary actions. The CEO awaits a response by the end of the day.
