Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary had a close call on Thursday when his vehicle experienced a brake failure while traveling the Mughal Road in Poonch district.

Choudhary recounted the harrowing experience, stating, "My bulletproof vehicle, which I was using to travel from Pir Ki Gali, suffered a brake failure accompanied by smoke near Passana." His driver's swift action in employing the hand brake halted the speeding vehicle, thereby preventing a potentially serious accident.

Choudhary highlighted the issue of using outdated vehicles, emphasizing the necessity for improved transport for ministers. "Despite Z-plus security, we have been given old vehicles," he said. "We have informed the DGP and LG regarding vehicle replacements, but no action has been taken. Ministers' vehicles should be audited and refreshed." Later that day, Choudhary visited the Buddha Amarnath shrine and prayed for Jammu and Kashmir's peace and prosperity, as well as the restoration of its statehood.
