In a significant political move, Congress Party MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh has submitted a notice under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha, urging the suspension of regular proceedings to address concerns over the conduct of free and fair elections.
Singh's letter to the Secretary-General addresses issues such as high migration levels and documentation vulnerabilities, which potentially disenfranchise poor and marginalized voters. Additionally, Karnataka's Syed Naseer Hussain has echoed these concerns, emphasizing the importance of credibility and inclusiveness in the electoral system.
In a show of opposition unity, MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have announced plans to march from Makar Dwar to the Election Commission office. This move comes amid reports that the Delhi Police has not been notified of the planned INDIA Bloc march.
